Review highlights

Based on 176 reviews

Jollof Mama consistently receives praise for its authentic West African cuisine, particularly Nigerian street food offerings like suya and Jollof rice. Customers frequently highlight the bold, well-balanced flavors and tender, well-spiced meats, noting a satisfying blend of smokiness and heat. The quick service and friendly staff contribute positively to the overall dining experience, making it a popular choice in the bustling Seven Dials food hall. While most feedback emphasizes flavorful and generous portions, occasional remarks mention slight inconsistencies in meat texture. Nevertheless, the vibrant atmosphere and genuine taste of traditional dishes create a welcoming environment that appeals to both newcomers and those familiar with West African cuisine. Overall, Jollof Mama stands out for its quality, authenticity, and approachable yet lively service style.

Food was really tasty, came quickly and the service was great. We really enjoyed it. I had the chicken suya which was nice, not too spicy and the beef suya had rave reviews too. Soft and spicy.

Absolutely wonderful meal. West African style food. The marinated sirloin steak suya, dusted with peanut spice was incredible. I'd definitely order from these guys again. There's so much choice in the food hall, but from all the other dishes I saw on various other tables..this beat them all hands down in my opinion. And they are really friendly people too.

Amazing Nigerian Street Food & Suya – A Must-Try! I had an incredible experience at easily one of the best spots for Nigerian street food in London! If you’re craving bold, authentic flavors, this is the place to go. I tried the mixed suya platter, and it was phenomenal—perfectly spiced, smoky, and packed with flavor. The meat was tender, with just the right amount of heat from the pepper mix. Pairing it with their fresh, crispy plantains and jollof rice made for a truly satisfying meal. They also have great small chops like puff-puff and moi-moi, which took me straight back to Lagos street food vibes! The atmosphere is lively, and the service is warm and welcoming. However, I’d say the prices are a bit on the high side if you’re dining alone, especially for street food-style dishes. But the quality and taste make it worth the treat! If you’re looking for top-tier Nigerian street food and suya in London, this spot should be at the top of your list. Highly recommended!

Wow! Picture the scene. My wife and I have just landed in London and are staying nearby. We wander over to Seven Dials for lunch. I luckily chose Jollof Mama! I'd never eaten Jollof, but had heard of it. There aren't too many Nigerian options in Brighton, Colorado USA. I got the lunch special with Jollof rice and fried chicken. I asked for it to be extra spicy, and the lovely young lady not only had them spice it up, she offered me some of their home-made hot sauce to accompany the meal. The rice was delicious, nicely spiced with a good amount of heat. The chicken was spectacular! It was hot and crispy and tender. The hot sauce....The hot sauce had a wonderful flavor and the heat level almost made my head pop off. It rang my bell and gave a quick case of hiccups, which is my threshold. I loved it! We were only in London for the night, but I promise to one day come back when in London again. Thank you Jollof Mama!!

Absolutely amazing meal! I ate here on the 12th of April (my birthday) for lunch and I wasn't disappointed! The quality of the meat was amazing, the level of spice and flavour was absolutely perfect! The plantain was some of the best I have ever tasted! Will absolutely be returning on my next visit to London!

As a Nigerian I have pretty high expectations when it comes to Naija food out especially if adjusted for a western palate. I was expecting nice looking but bland food. The jollof was dome shaped and I feared sticky rice jollof which can sometimes be stodgy. I was so wrong. Flavoured to perfection. Actually thought with such good jollof the name of mama jollof is well deserved. Plantain is difficult to get wrong so was ripe and well done, except could always have more. Might be worth them chopping smaller into party dodo but that would probably annoy other customers. Suya- I have yet to taste any suya in the UK that meets my standards having been exposed to the University of suya in ikeja. The beef pieces were nicely cooked, not as thin as I'd prefer but okay. The suya seasoning was a bit lacking. The beef should be absolutely coated in it rather than just a mild sprinkling. The added coleslaw gave an authentic naija like salad accompliment. Altogether a really good meal, and as a Nigerian that is good praise.

Jollof Mama was a breath of fresh air!! Amazing flavours, I tried Suya Chicken with coconut rice and plantain which was totally delicious. My wife has the veggie curry which was every bit as good. Lovely people that are clearly passionate about Nigerian cuisine and this reflects in the food. Find Jollof inside Seven Dials food hall in Covent Garden, choose your meal and take a seat to wait for the zapper to let you know it's ready. You won't be disappointed!! Thanks guys
